X Cracks Down on Stolen Content and Engagement Bait

Social media platform X has announced new measures to stop users from earning money by stealing other people's content or using misleading tactics to gain followers and engagement.

Content theft has become a common problem on many social media platforms. Popular videos, images, and text posts are often copied and reposted by other users without permission. These copied posts can receive thousands of views, likes, and shares, allowing people to earn money from work they did not create.

To reduce this problem, X has improved its detection technology using the latest version of its Grok AI model. According to the company, the new system can identify duplicated content three times more effectively than before.

Some users have tried to avoid detection by adding watermarks, new introductions, or small edits to stolen videos. However, X says these tricks will no longer work. If the platform detects that content has been copied, the advertising revenue will go to the original creator instead of the person who reposted it. This policy also applies to copied text posts.

The company recently identified around 1.5 million stolen posts during one review period. As a result of the new system, more than $1 million in creator payments will now be redirected to the people who originally created the content.

X is also fighting another growing problem: automated bot accounts. These accounts often use artificial intelligence to spread copied content, increase fake engagement, or manipulate discussions. Earlier this year, the company reported that it was suspending more than 200 bots every minute.

Another target of the new policy is engagement bait. This refers to posts that encourage people to like, comment, or follow simply to increase popularity. For example, some users write messages such as, "I'll follow everyone who replies."

Under the new rules, users who repeatedly use engagement bait or intentionally steal content may lose access to X's creator revenue program. In serious cases, their accounts may also be suspended.

X hopes these changes will reward original creators, reduce spam, and make the platform a fairer place for everyone. As artificial intelligence continues to develop, social media companies are investing more in technology to protect creativity and encourage authentic content.
