Ibrahima Konaté said he was very disappointed after Liverpool F.C. lost 3–2 to Manchester United F.C. on Sunday.
Liverpool made some mistakes at the start of the game. These mistakes helped Manchester United score two early goals.
At half-time, Liverpool were losing 2–0. But in the second half, they played much better. Dominik Szoboszlai scored first, and then Cody Gakpo scored again. The score became 2–2.
Konaté said, “We did not start the game well. We gave them two easy goals. But in the second half, we showed strong mentality and came back.”
However, in the 77th minute, Kobbie Mainoo scored the winning goal for Manchester United. The final score was 3–2.
Konaté said the team felt very sad because they had a good chance to win. “We came back to 2–2, so we believed we could win. But we made another mistake and gave them a goal,” he explained.
He also said the team needed to fight harder, especially in the first half. “In the first half, we lost many 50–50 challenges. In the second half, we were more aggressive and played better.”
Liverpool now have three games left this season. They want to finish in a good position to play in the Champions League next year.
Their next game is against Chelsea F.C., followed by matches against Aston Villa F.C. and Brentford F.C..
Konaté said, “These are three big games. We must be ready.”
